Simon Wilby’s Story: How One Man Hopes to Change the Way the World Uses Solar Power

Many solar powered gadgets have been invented over the years – from utterly strange and pointless like some types of solar powered toys to extremely useful gadgets like the green notebooks. Simon Wilby’s current invention – The Smart One – and his projects set for future release fall under the second category.

The Smart One promises to dramatically lessen if not completely eliminate the need for power cords, wall sockets and chargers through the use of solar cells that are capable of harnessing sufficient juice to support cell phone applications. This product was released in Barbados in the first quarter of 2009 and is planned to be marketed worldwide very soon.

In line with Simon Wilby’s aim to make the world reconsider the efficiency and benefits of green energy, he plans on creating more applications for his recently developed technology. Initially, he intends to embark on two new projects – one is the laptop skin that would convert light sources into laptop battery charge and the other is the illumination of some secluded areas in Barbados using solar powered street lamps.

Within the next five years, Simon Wilby plans on making his company an international green icon. He aims to make significant impact on people’s minds, enough to leave them thinking about his company, The Smart Power Inc., whenever they come across the term “green energy”.
